Your Quickbase developer left, and now nothing changes.

Your in-house builder is still there, but the app has grown beyond what one person can safely maintain.

You know what your current apps could do next, but you need a team that can design and build that next stage.

However your apps got here, the common thread is the same: they have outgrown the support behind them.

Quickbase is a capable platform. That is why your team built real, load-bearing apps on it in the first place. The problem is not the platform. The problem is that the support behind the apps no longer matches how important, complex, or ambitious they have become. That is the gap we close.

As a Quickbase partner, our job is to help you get the full value out of the platform you already pay for.

What a rescue actually looks like

You shouldn’t have to commit to anything before you know what you’re dealing with. Rescue starts with a defined, fixed-fee step, so you know exactly what the next move costs before you take it.

Step 1

The Quickbase App Assessment (fixed fee)

We go through your existing apps and report back in writing: what you have, how it’s built, where the risks are, what’s worth keeping, and what isn’t. You get a clear recommendation for each app: fix, extend, re-architect, or migrate. We give you the reasoning behind it and a fixed price for whatever comes next. The assessment is yours to keep, whether or not you go further with us.
If something business-critical is already broken, we can separate emergency stabilization from the broader assessment and cleanup plan.

Step 2

Fixed-price execution

Whatever the assessment recommends, the work is quoted as a defined scope, a fixed price, and a committed delivery window. All this is agreed upon before anyone starts, so you know what you’re getting and what it costs. Years of accumulated Quickbase patterns are why we can estimate accurately and move fast.

You receive:

app inventory

data model notes

workflow and rule review

permissions review

integration map

risk list

fix / extend / re-architect / migrate recommendation

fixed-price next-step proposal

What we usually find under the hood

Stalled Quickbase apps, whether you inherited them or built them yourself, tend to share the same problems. None of them are unusual, and none of them are unfixable. But they’re why the apps feel fragile and why your team is afraid to touch them.

Logic that lives in one person’s head and was never written down

We document how the app actually works. This includes the data model, the rules, the workflows. Your data and processes will no longer be trapped in a mysterious black box.

Brittle formulas and rules that break unpredictably

We find the load-bearing logic, stabilize what’s fragile, and fix what’s already broken, so changes stop being a gamble.

Messy data and reports nobody fully trusts

We clean up the structure and the way data flows between tables. If needed, we can help identify duplicates and stale records, and rebuild reports around the numbers your team actually needs to manage the business.

An app that has grown past how it was first built

We re-architect the data model, relationships, and workflows so the app can support where the business is going, not just where it started. The vision stays yours, and we build the structure to match it.

Permissions never really set up, so everyone can see and change everything

We design proper roles and access, so the right people have the right control and the data is protected.

Integrations to other systems that stopped working

We reconnect, repair, or rebuild the integrations the business depends on. We document how they’re wired, so the next outage isn’t a guessing game.

Half-built features someone started and abandoned

We finish what’s worth finishing, retire what isn’t, and leave you with an app that matches how the business runs today.

When we’re done, the apps aren’t just working again. They’re documented so the next staff change doesn’t put you right back here.

So you’re never dependent on one person again.

The risk is that too much operational knowledge depends on one person, whether that person has left or is simply carrying more than one person should have to carry. We’re built so that can’t happen to you. The work is documented, and there’s a team behind it, not a single contractor you’ll be chasing in a year. When staff turn over on your side, the apps keep running. When you need a change, the work is documented well enough that our team can respond without rediscovering the system from scratch. We become the durable maintainer your last setup never had.

A real firm behind the work. No more single points of failure

Watkyn has operated since 2015. We’re a Quickbase partner with a full team of senior Quickbase developers, a documented six-phase delivery methodology, and ticket-based support under a support agreement. We bring the same delivery discipline to a small Quickbase rescue that we bring to a government system: right-sized to the job, fixed in price, and documented end to end. See how we work →

Watkyn LLC is a software development and consulting firm, operating since 2015, and a Quickbase partner. The firm takes over, stabilizes, documents, and maintains existing Quickbase applications for commercial, government, higher education, and nonprofit clients. Rescue engagements begin with a fixed-fee Quickbase App Assessment that produces a written report, a clear recommendation for each app, and a fixed price for the work that follows. Rescue and reinforcement engagements include the stabilization and rebuild of an unreliable compliance-tracking application for Capital Impact Partners, a performance rescue for Acosta, the takeover of a custom shift-generation codebase for Guard Services USA, and senior development support behind in-house Quickbase builders at Sandvik and Auction Vcommerce.

We contracted Watkyn LLC after inheriting an application built by someone who was no longer with the company. Phillip and his team stepped in quickly to provide technical support and a helping hand to get the application functional again. We worked through all the kinks and issues over the past year with exceptional customer service.

Questions we hear from people in your situation

Our Quickbase developer left. Can you take over our apps?

Yes, it’s one of the situations we know best. We assess what you have, stabilize it, document it, and take over ongoing maintenance and development. Your apps keep evolving with your changing needs instead of slowly freezing.

How much does it cost to fix or take over a Quickbase app?

It depends on the state of the apps and what you want them to do next. That’s why rescue starts with a fixed-fee Quickbase App Assessment: a written report with a clear recommendation for each app and a fixed price for whatever comes next, so you know the number before committing to anything. We’re priced for small and midsize organizations, not enterprise transformation budgets.

Something business-critical is broken right now. How fast can you help?

Quickly. Tell us what’s broken in the form below, or call us, and we’ll triage fast. When something urgent is down, we separate emergency stabilization from the broader assessment and cleanup plan, so the immediate problem gets fixed first and the long-term fix follows in the right order.

Should we contact Quickbase support, or a partner like Watkyn?

It depends on where the problem lives. If the Quickbase platform itself is down, behaving unexpectedly, or showing a product error, Quickbase support is the right first stop. If the problem is your app, its structure, formulas, reports, permissions, integrations, data model, missing documentation, or unfinished development, that’s partner work, and it’s what we do. Most of the time the platform is working fine; it’s the app the business depends on that has become fragile, stalled, or too complex for the team supporting it. That’s the help we provide.

Our Quickbase developer is still with us, but the app has outgrown what they can build. Can you still help?

Yes. Quickbase makes it easy to start, and successful apps often keep growing until they need more architecture, integration, and maintenance discipline than one in-house builder can reasonably provide. We come in as reinforcement, not a replacement. We can handle the advanced work, document the system, and mentor your developer along the way. The vision stays yours.

Our Quickbase app has grown too complex to maintain. Where do we start?

With a Quickbase App Assessment. It tells you in writing where the app stands today, what’s limiting it, and what it would take to get it where you want it, with a fixed price for the next step.

Can you fix or rebuild an app someone else built?

Yes. We work in inherited apps all the time. We did exactly that for Capital Impact Partners, whose compliance team inherited an application after its builder left the organization. The Quickbase App Assessment tells you, in writing, whether each app is best fixed, extended, re-architected, or migrated, and why.

What does the Quickbase App Assessment cost, and what do we get?

It’s a defined, fixed fee. You get a written report that includes an app inventory, data model and workflow notes, a permissions and integration review, a risk list, and a clear recommendation for each app, plus a fixed price for any work that follows. The report is yours whether or not you continue with us.

Do you make changes directly in our existing Quickbase apps?

Yes, but not recklessly. We start by assessing the environment, identifying high-risk areas, and agreeing on what should be changed first. If something is broken and urgent, we can separate emergency stabilization from longer-term cleanup.

Do you provide ongoing Quickbase support and maintenance after a rescue?

Yes. After the rescue we become your durable maintainer, providing ongoing Quickbase support on a ticket basis under your support agreement, plus enhancements as the business changes. That’s the answer to the single-person dependency that stranded you in the first place.

Can you fix the integrations our app depends on?

Yes. Broken or undocumented integrations are one of the most common things we inherit. We reconnect, repair, or rebuild the connections to your other systems and document how they’re wired, so they stop being a black box.

Can’t we just rebuild the app with Quickbase’s AI tools?

Sometimes, yes. Quickbase’s AI tools are real and improving, and a generated rebuild can be a useful starting point for a team with a capable self-builder and the time to finish the work. A rescue is usually the opposite situation: nobody fully understands the data model, permissions, rules, and workflows the business already depends on, and generating a fresh app doesn’t recover that understanding. We rebuild and document that foundation properly, and we use AI in our own engineering where it adds speed, with senior developers making the design decisions and standing behind the result. If a self-build path genuinely fits your team, the Quickbase App Assessment will tell you so.

Do we keep ownership and control of our apps and data?

Always. The apps and the data are yours. We document everything so that you, or any future partner you choose to work with, can understand and run the system without depending on us either.

Are you a Quickbase partner?

Yes. Watkyn is a Quickbase partner and has built, rescued, and maintained Quickbase applications across government, higher education, nonprofit, and commercial clients since 2015, including rescues and takeovers for Capital Impact Partners, Acosta, and Guard Services USA. Our partner profile on quickbase.com (opens in a new tab) carries public five-star reviews from clients including Capital Impact Partners, Skydio, and the City of Philadelphia. We’re a U.S. firm and work remotely with clients across the United States and internationally.

Tell us what’s stalled.
We’ll take a closer look.

Send us a few details about your Quickbase ecosystem and we’ll come back to you quickly with next steps. Fast response is part of the point. You should not have to wait weeks just to find out what your options are.

You don’t need a perfect description of the problem before contacting us. If the apps matter to the business and you’re not sure what’s safe to change, that’s exactly what the assessment is for.
