Deployed at Saint Louis University and PLNU

Built for SLU’s 18,000-student campus

SLU purchased a perpetual license

SLU health work under HIPAA BAA

Built on Quickbase

Watkyn built ContactPath in 2020, when institutions needed a disciplined way to manage case investigation, exposure tracing, testing, vaccination records, and public-health reporting without relying on disconnected spreadsheets.

Case intake & triage

Person records with status, diagnosis, isolation, and priority scoring. Assign by hand, by rule, or from a shared queue, with custom roles.

Structured interviews

Customizable templates with a defined contact-elicitation window. Symptom capture with severity and onset.

Movements & contacts

Log places, duration, and distance of interaction. Classify close contacts.

Testing & vaccination

Test records with lab, result, and reported-to-state flag. Vaccination and booster tracking, including compliance workflows where needed.

Communication & outreach

A full activity log per case. SMS, email, and, where configured, recorded voice notifications.

Dashboards, maps & reporting

Role-based dashboards and cluster and outbreak maps. On-the-fly custom reports.

At Saint Louis University, ContactPath supported COVID-19 case investigation and health-compliance operations for a large university community. After the emergency phase of the pandemic, SLU expanded the system into broader student-health infrastructure and purchased a perpetual, unlimited-user license.

Phillip and the Watkyn team have been instrumental in helping us organize key departments and information during a time of almost constant change and uncertainty. The flexibility of the apps they have created has allowed our teams to quickly adjust according to new public health guidance, and has strengthened inter-departmental communication.

Where ContactPath can fit

Public-health agencies, ministries of health, and regional health authorities

For public-sector buyers, Watkyn can discuss procurement, security review, data handling, and deployment responsibilities before proposing a path. Government and public-sector software

Colleges and universities

Employee-health and workforce programs

Clinics or agencies running testing or vaccination programs

Organizations that need a configurable starting point rather than a full custom build

Built for the complexity of a campus

For colleges and universities, ContactPath ties cases to the structures that drive transmission on a campus and can integrate with a student information system.

View cases and contacts by dorm building, floor, and suite; by course section; and by team or Greek organization.

Track quarantine and isolation housing occupancy, room-cleaning status, and meal requirements.

Integrate with a student information system; separate student-health and employee-health roles.

Higher-education software and student-health systems

Privacy and security built in

Case aliases, consent fields, and role-based views help limit unnecessary exposure of identifying information during investigation workflows.

Depending on deployment and Quickbase account configuration, ContactPath can support encryption, MFA, directory integration, IP filtering, and audit logging where configured.

CSV import, Quickbase Pipelines, and a RESTful API for integration with HR, SIS, lab, reporting, or other operational systems; can include a public self-reporting portal.

Our security and compliance practices

What ContactPath shows about how we build

ContactPath shows what Quickbase can become in expert hands: role-based security, structured relational data, automated workflows, mapping, dashboards, integrations, and operational reporting, all delivered under real deadlines. It is the kind of system we build for organizations that have outgrown spreadsheets and disconnected tools.

Contact tracing and case management break down when contacts, test results, outreach, isolation status, and reporting live in separate spreadsheets and inboxes. ContactPath puts them in one system with the permissions and audit trail the work demands.

What working with us looks like

We start by deciding whether ContactPath is actually the right fit before proposing implementation work.

1

Fit assessment

Workflow, data, users, integrations, reporting, and operating environment.

2

Configuration and adaptation plan

Roles, fields, workflows, imports, integrations, and launch scope.

3

Deployment, training, and handoff

Implementation, documentation, user training, and transition to operating ownership.

Questions about ContactPath

What is ContactPath?

ContactPath is Watkyn’s Quickbase-based contact-tracing and case-management platform, built in 2020 and deployed at Saint Louis University and Point Loma Nazarene University. At Saint Louis University it grew into broader health-compliance and permanent student-health infrastructure, and the university purchased a perpetual, unlimited-user license.

Is ContactPath only for COVID-19?

No. Its interviews, roles, workflows, and reports are configurable, so it can be adapted for other infectious diseases and for general case management. Saint Louis University’s platform was expanded after the pandemic using flexible disease and symptom logic.

Can we still deploy ContactPath?

We license and adapt ContactPath selectively, where the fit is real. The starting point is a short fit call to understand the workflow, data, users, integrations, and operating environment.

Do we need Quickbase?

Yes, ContactPath runs on Quickbase. We can help determine whether ContactPath on Quickbase is the right fit or whether a different custom build would serve better.

Can ContactPath integrate with our existing systems?

Yes, where the source systems and permissions allow it. ContactPath can use CSV imports, Quickbase Pipelines, and API integrations; during fit assessment we identify the systems, data ownership, authentication, and reporting requirements.

Is this a product or a custom engagement?

ContactPath is a productized Quickbase application delivered through a configured implementation. Each deployment still requires workflow adaptation, permissions, data setup, training, and any needed integrations.

Can ContactPath support HIPAA-regulated health workflows?

Where an engagement involves PHI, Watkyn scopes the work under the governing agreement and, where required, a Business Associate Agreement. Watkyn has built and operated HIPAA-governed systems under signed BAAs, including COVID-19 case management and vaccination tracking for Saint Louis University. The governing agreement and data-handling requirements control each deployment.

What if ContactPath is not the right fit?

If ContactPath is not the right approach, we will say so and recommend either a different Quickbase build, another platform, or no project.

Who built it?

Watkyn LLC, a custom software development and technology consulting firm operating since 2015. ContactPath was announced in July 2020.

Need to adapt ContactPath or build a case-management system like it?

If ContactPath is the right fit, we can license and adapt it. If not, we will tell you whether a different Quickbase build, another platform, or no project is the better answer.
